Backpack packed with:

Spare trousers, 2 tee shirts and a fleece polo shirt.  (no dresses evening or otherwise!)
Underwear for 4 days plus spare pair of walking socks and some trainer liner socks for use with
spare pair of lightweight lace up  shoes.
Pair of leggings in case it turned cold to wear under walking trousers
fine knit cardi which doesn't crumple
Nightie - I weighed 3 to find the lightest one!
Toileteries - decanted into sample sized jars and bottles- cleanser, toner, moisturiser, hand cream, toothpaste (sample sized) toothbrush
Bus timetables all printed out and cut up to leave me with only necessary days for each route and maps of selected walks I wanted to do.  The above itinerary so I knew what time my next bus should be and what number etc.
Notebook and pen
chamomile tea bags and a couple of sachets of Horlicks along with 3 Frusli bars
Water bottle
Camera and mobile phone plus chargers
Smaller purse than usual containing money, bank card, bus pass, senior rail card in case I needed to use the train, stamps and address labels for postcards
Lightweight gym bag style backpack
thin cotton scarf in case of chilly winds or to protect against sun if necessary!
Spare memory card for camera which I did actually need

I didn't take a book so had nothing to read but that didn't seem to matter though a lightweight paperback might not have added much to the weight.

I also had a nylon cross body bag so as to have money and bus pass etc getatable when using backpack
