These are some of the colourful bags I have in my collection.
Some of my collection of colourful beads and brooches - I'm not a twinset and pearls lady as you can see.
A book I bought at a charity shop recently because its photographs were by Linda Burgess whose photography I admire.
And last but not least my new table mats together with a bunch of sunflowers purchased in France to sit on a shelf in my kitchen which had green tiled wall behind the cooker with randomly place sunflower tiles.

A little anecdote re the bunch of sunflowers which may amuse you:- My daughter wanted some like these and I purchased some for her and when coming over from France to UK I wondered if I would be allowed to bring them as their stems are made of very stiff wire and I didn't want to put them in my case to go in the hold. I asked if I could take them and the charming official at the airport took them from me whilst I went through the usual pat down search etc and then duly handed them back to me with a small bow and a "Madame"! Now even if the wire stems were not a problem I could have had anything concealed within the wrapping couldn't I? I know I probably do not fit the usual terrorist profile but I could have been a terrorist's mother couldn't I? Rather like the time during the foot and mouth outbreak when we all had to paddle through disinfectant before boarding the plane to Spain only to have walking boots still with odd bits of mud etc in the treads in our suitcases! Mad world eh?!!
Very colourful :0)
ReplyDeleteJust what I needed, some colour! Really love the crazy patchwork bag in the first photo :o)
ReplyDeleteSome lovely images in that book. I love the daffodils and lemons!
ReplyDeleteThe sunflowers and table mats are gorgeous too.
Sunflowers and daffodils are my two favourite flowers.

Great colours! Not much longer and our gardens will be brimming with colour!
ReplyDeleteOh, oh, oh I do love your bags, especially those in the top two pictures...mind you probably has something to do with the gorgeous colours. The jewellery is fabulous as well.
ReplyDeleteYes the Rook and the Knight are round the wrong way...still waiting for hubby to notice! ;-) He hates me mixing them up.
I love your bags!! You have such a nice collection - thanks for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely colours in those bags. I love the jewellery too, so cheery.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, stunning colours. I always get stopped at airports. I guess anglo, fluffy, middle aged and middle class mothers in sensible shoes fit some terrorist profile...
ReplyDeleteGreat colours. I've got lots of bags and beads too! Love the book illustrations - I must look out for her work - great pics!
ReplyDeleteAnother one here with colourful beads.... and bangles............... What a lovely collection of bags too. This has been a lovely project to take part in, hasn't it?
ReplyDeleteYou have some beautiful things. Your bags are gorgeous. I bet you could wear a very plain outfit and just sling one of those one and look full of life.
ReplyDeleteLovely post.
Oh, lovely bags and beads! Do I detect a colour preference for the blues and purply-pinks here? Love the crazy patch. I must havw another go but only when it gets cooler- too hot for sewing now.
ReplyDeleteThese terrorist screens are a little strange some times. I had to surrender my flimsy nail file but was given a metal knife and fork on the plane once!
Cheers
Helen
ah yes very mad world, but yours is full of colour and cheer! I love the photo of the tulips, and all your beautiful things in rainbow colours- fab, are you a hippy in disguise?!
ReplyDeleteLovely colourful photos! I especially love the stripy rainbow bags! I liked your story about the airport security, sometimes they don't seem to think your dangerous! On the way back from Svalbard I brought a large plant fossil home with me, it is about the size of a football and I put it in my hand luggage daypack. We had to go through security at 3 different airports on the way home and each time I was stopped and taken behind a curtain to show them what was inside my bag. As sson as they saw it was a rock they just let me out again with it! I was quite surprised as I know I'm not that strong, but with a rock that size I could have easily knocked out the pilot and taken over the plane! Oh well, this was before the 9/11 stuff though.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week! :) x
What a feat5 of colour on a grey morning. Thank you for that.
ReplyDeleteThat word was FEAST!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely brightened a grey day, Jane.
ReplyDeleteA very colourful post Jane, and a gorgeous collection of bags. I love bright bags, I have a few myself. Your jewellery collection is lovely too, I love turquoise.
ReplyDeleteBureaucracy, what can I say.......................................
A wonderful set of photographs Jane, love your colourful accessories especially the embroidered bags. And I thought your sunflower combo was a photo from the book until I read your little story. You seem to be at home with your new camera.
ReplyDeleteI love those colours - and we've been allowed/not allowed the oddest things through customs since we started flying regularly. Once my mum talked a jar of Ben's jam onto a plane! I would never have thought that possible...
ReplyDeleteThat photo of the daffodils and lemons is great. It's one of those things that shouts 'draw me, draw me'. I have not heard of Linda Burgess but will keep a look out now for more of her stuff. A real splash of colour Jane, much needed on these drab days. Lesley x
ReplyDeleteI have missed reading your wonderful posts! I seem to have no 'spare' time these days, and my blog lies neglected and mouldy!
ReplyDeleteLovely bright colours - I love bags and beads! The book illustrations look very colourful too - just the thing to sit and leaf through on a grey February day:)
ReplyDeleteHi Jane, i love the colourful beads and bags. Beautiful combinations.
ReplyDeleteJanuary is over and we are only a heartbeat away from Spring.....
Have a great weekend.....
So WONDERFUL to hear from you and to dip back into your life. The Burgess book is filled with great photos. I too am an admirer.
ReplyDeleteNo, you don't fit my idea of a terrorist!
Sending love across the miles,
