Steep climb up to begin with - could have done with some walking poles here!
View from the top.
Keep to the path and don't get too near the edge!
Those of you who remember my childhood memory posts may remember that I mentioned a holiday spent in a caravan here - how the caravan park has changed since the 50s each van having water and electricity now but the beach is still the same!
Isn't this beautiful?
Now the path goes inland a bit as there is a little river to cross.
England's green and pleasant land eh?
Back to the coast now and once we get down onto the beach there is a place to eat.
Nearly there...
This is The Hive a renowned fish restaurant on the beach and boy were we glad to get there - all that climbing, walking and fresh air had given us an appetite!
Our return walk took us inland - I loved this picture "England my England"
The path led us through a field of donkeys - I love donkeys. After all that fresh air - we were out about 5 hours all told - and exercise I slept like a log last night and have woken refreshed and ready for the new day. I am going to a "Social Stitches" group this afternoon where we will apparently be doing some fabric dyeing - will let you know how it goes.
Lovely post with great photos, very uplifting on this dull grey morning!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely walk - I enjoyed that! Don't think I'd have managed the full 5 hours in reality! Abby x
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed coming with you on your walk. I'm just back from an hours stomp across the fields in drizzle - not as pretty as your route.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the share Jane, was that West Bay and Burton Bradstock? I'm afraid I couldn't tackle such a walk nowadays, but I have walked on the cliffs at West Bay. Views to sustain the soul.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid it cold, damp and rather misty here, AGAIN!
Absolutely beautiful and makes me long to get down to the sea myself.
ReplyDeleteMagnificent views!
ReplyDeleteThat was breathtaking Jane, thanks for sharing it with us, just wish I could have walked it with you!!
ReplyDeleteI love donkeys too, beautiful creatures. :)
Enjoy your fabric dyeing!

ReplyDeleteMy walk was damp and very muddy and not at all pretty!

That climb id efinitiely worth it for those gorgeous views! I love coastal walks and such a nice day you had as well! Would be lovely in summer, must be lots of seabirds aorund too? No walks for me at the moment, the snows melted now, but lots of rain instead! I can't wait for better weather for some proper walks! :) x
ReplyDeleteThose lovely sunny photos - yesterday here was so cold and today not much better with mist and greyness both days. I'd love to be able to climb up and down the hills on your walk but I have angina and puff with exertion. I enjoy seeing the result of your labours, though. Our overcrowded little island still has so many beautiful places.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos, I so wish I was there as well. I'm not surprised you slept well! Have a great time dyeing fabric, sounds fun.

Gorgeous pics.
ReplyDeleteYou've won my giveaway! Can you drop me an email with your address so I can sent it?
Thanks :)
Could almost smell the fresh air. Stunning photos......... such a feeling of space.
ReplyDeleteFabulous photos as always. Looks like it was a perfect day for a walk - thank you for taking us with you.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! So glad you had a lovely day. I just called to my daughter and said where does this remind you of? Instantly she replied Dorset. We had two lovely holidays in West Bay, my husband says it is his favourite place in England.

How wonderful to have access to all of this - just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful walk along your beautiful bit of coastline - very refreshing! Hope you had a good time at your stitching group. Have a great weekend.

Jane,
ReplyDeleteThat was a trip down memory lane as well as a hike over the coastal path for me. I love the Dorset coast. Have not heard of the Hive restaurant but it sounds like somewhere we should go! The beekeeper and I may be heading this way for a few days in May so this sounds somewhere we should look out for. Can I have lunch though without the five hour trek? Lesley x
Thankyou so much for giving me a breath of fresh air!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful walk! My husbands Mother has a static caravan further along the coast from here at Durdle Door,we went down there a couple of years ago at Easter time its such a beautiful coastline, Lulworth cove is so beautiful and tranquil :) I ended up in the lovely Dorset general for 3 days, very friendly caring people, they looked after me very well, but thats another story!
ReplyDeleteLovely! The coast indeed is a wonderful place.
ReplyDeleteHow lucky you are Jane; these are wonderful photos! I've just been looking at The Hive's website......must put that on my 'one day' list :-)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you started in West Bay and is that Golden Cap or is that further along? Love to walk along the South West Way when I'm in that area of the country.
