A new slant on Bedding Plants!
Thank you all for your kind comments on my previous post about living in France - it seems to have attracted more comments than usual for some reason - I seem to have touched a nerve.
Is anyone else having problems with seeing who their followers are? According to my dashboard a couple dropped off (don't know who or why) a while back and recently a couple more have added my blog to their lists but I have no way of knowing who these people are as the section headed Followers continues to be blank!. So if you are a new follower - welcome and thanks for joining me in my ramblings about life in general!
This is a roundabout near where I live and I thought it would amuse you and maybe bring a whole new meaning to the term "bedding plants"!
Roundabouts in the UK are often sponsored by a local firm who in return for their sponsorship are entitled to place a small board by way of advertising on their sponsored roundabout. This particular roundabout is sponsored by a firm who sell solid wood furniture. Certainly gets the attention doesn't it?
On my walk to take the above pictures I noticed this which made me realise that beauty is to be found in the most unlikely places as this is the lid of a dog poo bin!! Isn't that lichen something though?

I saw another post someone had done yesterday I think on 'bedding' plants - such a wonderful idea!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about blogger, all my links dissapeared and my followers list got jumbled up and some where missing!
ReplyDeleteI think it's sorted now, just got to do my links list again.
Bet you held your breath whilst taking the pic of the lichen!
It is beautiful though!

What a unique idea these flower-beds are!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I don't know about you but I can see your followers.
xo
Very witty round-abouts. We have restrictions here because of the risk of distracting drivers.
ReplyDeleteHi Jane,
ReplyDeleteI have lost my followers....I have given up worrying about it:)
I hate to be a bore but I do so hate these bedding plant schemes on roundabouts.
I prefer to see trees......and perhaps grasses.
It is just down to personal taste......we are all different.
I do love the lichen though:)
Clever round-abouts and yes there are lots of them aren't there? That's another thing Aussies aren't too good at. People here drive too fast through them, never know which lane they should be in and often try to join when there is not enough time or space.
ReplyDeleteThe round about is really lovely. I wish they did that sort of thing here. The dog poo lid is amazing, although it made me giggle a little.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day.
Oh, I like that, it appeals to my sense of the ridiculous. Lichens are wonderful and it pleases me that so much is now visible as it is an indicator of clean air.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I can see your follower list, have you tried changing your browser?
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not there is a society in England for the study and photographing of roundabouts :) and a little book about them. I think yours are among the best I've seen.
ReplyDeleteThe air must be pure if you have all that lichen!
Hallo Jane. A couple of years ago a new roundabout on the main road had a fantastic display of brilliant wild red poppies, perhaps from imported soil? Last year no poppies just horrid tall thistles and this year I haven't noticed what's there as I've driven past. But some roundabouts here are full of daffodils in season though I'm not too fond of the shrubby ones as people drive round them despite limited vision.
ReplyDeleteThe bedhead is a witty idea, well done the firm! Why not let them know so many bloggers appreciate it?
Whoops! Have just put my computer specs on and seen that it's a complete bed.....
ReplyDeleteAmazing what people dream up isn't it Jane? You are right though, they did bring a smile to my face.
ReplyDeleteLovely lichen.

I did enjoy the creativity of these planting beds in the roundabout!
ReplyDeleteI do like a bit of wit with my gardening!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever seen such a prettier dog poo lid.
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful weekend.

What pretty bedding plant displays! We have planted some Cosmos on the allotment to brighten it up a bit. The weeds have been terrible with all this rain and we have lots more digging to do!

Hi Jane
ReplyDeleteMy followers have disappeared too and also on lots of blogs I see in Google Reader. The last post on this from Blogger was in 2009, so they don't seem to know about it...
Hey, I'm likin' that lichen! (smile). I've heard of other having lost their Followers, but I have not had it happen to me (yet!)
