Granny never looked like this!
As promised a less wordy piece this time! Saw these in one of the weekend supplements and thought I'd share them with you.
Apparently this biker jacket is "one of the defining pieces of the new season" it's made from fine cashmere and will retail at £2,210 so who's going to be the first blogger to make something similar?!!

I so want to learn how to crochet! My SIL taught herself so I think I'm going to have to get myself a good book and learn.........:D I don't think I'll be up to making the biker jacket for a few weeks though!

ps With the Autumn weather on it's way I can imagine the wind whistling through those holes, brrrrrr!
certainly different! I'm still trying to finish a cardie i started last winter! Hehe, the word verification thingy is skina!
ReplyDeleteThe model in the centre pic is going to get a cold on her chest, never mind the wind whistling through the holes....!
ReplyDeleteHmm I don't think so. I had a giggle at the chest on the third model, I'm not sure that the centre of the granny squares are particularly well placed.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not me!
ReplyDeleteOff to read the previous post!
Those are wrong in so many ways! Fashion, huh!
ReplyDeleteThey probably wouldn't end up square if I crocheted them (not if my crocheted fingerless gloves are anything to go by)!!
ReplyDeleteFirstly Ladies, the model with the cold chest can wear the biker jacket over the top. That should help with her pneumonia !!!
ReplyDeleteSecondly, when I look at all of them the only thing I can think of is a target.
I agree they are wrong it so many ways. What fun!!
Slightly silly looking if you ask me! I'll pass on making any of these. It will be interesting if we start seeing this sort of fashion in the shops.
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Louise
P.S. to your question about typewriter ribbon - I was surprised to find I could order new on ebay or amazon for a very good price.
Well, what a waste of good wool!
ReplyDeleteMy hooks are out and I'm sourcing the cashmere as we speak!!! ;)

Hi Jane,
ReplyDeleteI would be frightened to wear that jacket at that price....I would probably spill my coffee down it :)
I do like the style though.....
That's one expensive jacket - love the crochet clothes though, unfortunately I'm not patient enough to make something that large! I'll stick to my little pieces for the moment! :) x
ReplyDeleteFabulous! I love a good, time- and money-consuming challenge! Seriously wish I could crochet...
ReplyDeleteForgive this shameless plug but I am hosting a giveaway as from tonight and I think it might just be up your garden path. ;-)
All the best,
Stephanie
Oh my, granny certainly did not look like that! I think I prefer granny's attire back at the turn of the century...if I had to choose.
ReplyDeleteI think these are fab! looks like I am outnumbered, but hey ho! Thank you for your comment. You would NOT have enjoyed Shepton yesterday as the weather was truly atrocious. Enjoy Monday! Lizzie x
ReplyDeleteI "thought" I left a comment yesterday but was having big computer problems. I saw this article on Saturday and LOVED them........
ReplyDeleteThis made me smile over my breakfast table too! Who would have thought the grannie squares would make it to somewhere so stylish??
ReplyDeleteHave a good week.

I saw this on Saturday too Jane and had the same thoughts as you! I immediately thought 'granny squares' but I do like the colourways. Very contemporary. I can crochet but can't see me making this ensemble for my winter wardrobe. Lesley x
ReplyDeleteRather like the first jacket, but I'm not sure it would work with the wool in my scrap bag!

ReplyDeleteCurious placement of squares, would a woman wearing one of these have to say "talk to the face, not the squares" ? Hope that doesn't catch on over here.
ReplyDeleteWell, it's an interesting look. But I think it also looks a bit like crochet gone mad.
ReplyDeleteTempted! I think they're fab. Especially love the biker jacket although it would look rather more lumpy on me!
ReplyDeleteYou need to find a granny who will knit it for fun!!
ReplyDeleteI think I will stick to blankets! x
ReplyDeleteDon't think I am up to making anything like these and as I am so slow they would definitely be out of fashion before I finished!
ReplyDeleteI suspect that those big squares would have a significant widening effect on anyone not quite so tall and thin as the models!
