I am deeply touched by the number of good wishes I have received following my last post. I knew I had a good few blogger friends but hadn't realised quite how many of you there were! Thank you all so much. I managed to read all your comments by leaning close in to the screen and closing the left eye!!
Just to update you on the situation - I spent nearly an hour at the optometrist's on Tuesday afternoon undergoing a barrage of different tests and it seemed likely that the problem was a cataract and an appointment was made for me to see the consultant at the hospital. That was 5.00 pm Tuesday evening and on Wednesday mid-day I received a phone call to offer me an appointment for 9.00 am this morning (who says the NHS is rubbish and the waits interminable?!) Today I had further tests and the opthalmologist says that although there are cataracts (yes in the plural!) they are not causing the problem and she could find nothing to account for it so now I am awaiting a further appointment for a retinal scan to be done at Dorchester hospital. We must wait and see what that shows. In the meantime I can still drive as I can see but just not the fine detail - phew!
I am fine and we went for a lovely walk on the Quantocks yesterday with our neighbours - the views were amazing (would have been even better if I had been able to see clearly!). I am still finding using the computer hard work - typing is fine as I don't need to look for that though the proof reading might be another story. I will look forward to catching up with you all again soon.
Thank you again for all your good wishes.
So glad your appointment came through so promptly
ReplyDeleteyou remain in our love and prayers

So glad you are getting sorted. Thinking of you!
ReplyDeleteGlad you've got to see someone so quickly. Fingers crossed they come up with an answer soon.
ReplyDeleteGood news that you are getting such prompt appointments Jane.

That is good to be seen so quickly. I am glad that it is not affecting your long distance vision as that would have make it awkward for driving. Miss P was born with a cataract in her left eye and she can hardly see out of that eye. Her right eye is doing all the work. We keep monitoring it but so far not appropriate to operate. She has problems seeing things in the distance as has to sit at the front of the classroom to be able to read the board.
ReplyDeleteI wish you well for your appointment in Dorchester.
Take care

It is very impressive that you were seen so quickly, I hope the outcome of the visit to Dorchester is a good one.
ReplyDeleteThat is very fast, so glad to hear that the NHS is being so helpful. I am one of the few (in France)who still thinks the good old NHS is allright!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your next appointment. I'm glad you can still drive.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you,

Prayers the next appointment sorts it all out easily
ReplyDeleteMy allergies cause blurry moments when sinus are stuffed during the Autumn and Spring allergy seasons. Makes sense there's eyes, ears, nose and throat doctors. I've read a person can have a sinus infection for weeks before knowing it.
Well done the NHS, and it is good that diabetes is ruled out. It must be a very scary time for you though and I shall be praying for you.
ReplyDeleteJane,
ReplyDeleteThe NHS certainly has not let you down.
I do hope that your problem is sorted soonest.
I personally think that is the worst thing....not knowing!
Take care, and hope things keep moving swiftly.
Lovely to hear an update, and I'm glad that you are having the sight problems addressed so promptly. Also glad to hear that otherwise you are still enjoying life. Have a happy weekend, and take care Jane. Helen x

ReplyDeleteLet's get this resolved !
Sending best Positive Thoughts.

So glad to get this update from you. I hope the doctors can soon determine the cause of your sight problem and fix it!
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend.
Let's hope all your appointments come through as quickly as the first. Good old NHS, it would appear Mr Cameron hasn't axed the care in the West Country so far. Have you been lifting heavy things around lately? I know a lady who convinced herself she was going blind as she was having problems with her eyes and it turned out she had strained something by too much lifting. It's funny how the body reacts to different circumstances. Anyway, let's hope there's the quick and simple outcome to all of this and I'm wishing you yet more luck.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend and take care.

I'm glad you got such a prompt appointment, but sorry that they couldn't put their finger on what the problem was. I do hope that Dorchester Hospital can give you a quick appointment too and that they will identify the problem and a speedy cure for it.
ReplyDeleteI just stopped in the check on you. You and yours are still in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteHi Jane, I hope that your eyes are getting better and that you are ok. I have so much school work at the moment but I will be back blogging as soon as possible! Take care.
ReplyDeletelucy xxxxxx
Just stopping in again to see how you are progressing... praying for you, Jane.
ReplyDeleteMaybe something to take your mind off it all?
ReplyDeleteWander over. To the postmans knock blog and see if you fancy joining us for a Christmas "do"?
having lost the sight in one eye I deeply sympathize with you. Did they check the pressure? I am sure they must have. For myself its getting used to the perspective being different now. I am not driving as I have people who drive me. I seldom go out alone at the moment so its not a problem. Wishing you well and that they get you fixed up really soon
ReplyDeleteJanice
so pleased to hear that you are being seen so promptly within the NHS. Best wishes, Lizzie x
