Stanley Green was a well known feature of Oxford Street in the 70s and 80s and I remember him well. A true English eccentric I'd say! I thought of him this morning when I came across this news item: Less time sitting extends life! Seems he was right after all!
Having read the news article I had better keep this brief! What might I do with a couple of extra years in my life? Spend them blogging perhaps?!!!
Great idea, that would be fun wouldn't it ; )
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day.
I think it is alright to sit down as long as you're fidgeting a lot, and drinking a small glass of red wine while nibbling your vegetables.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was young, mum and dad always told us kids to sit still and stop fidgeting,, in the last few years I have read that fidgeting is good for you,,
ReplyDeleteI agree, better to be busy!

I'd love to walk more but my Knees wont let me.
ReplyDeleteBut on the good side, I keep my brain active, in fact too active, it is going non stop. lol
Still, I like Stanley more that the one we had here in Brighton some years ago telling us that the end was nigh....

Like Briony's chap in Brighton, in Northolt there was one as well, end is nigh - what a laugh!
ReplyDeleteKeeping busy and active does seem to make people happier. I wonder if walking around while knitting counts towards increasing longevity too??

I remember seeing him walking up and down Oxford Street! I agree with the not sitting bit not sure about less protein though!!!
ReplyDeleteI remember him too! Try blogging standing up ;D
ReplyDeleteSo, eat less protein, move about more...sounds like my latest 'plan for life'. Trouble is we all know wha we SHOULD be doing, it's the a'doin' of it that is the problem!
ReplyDeleteNow I feel lazy just sitting here writing this. Have I just lopped 15 minutes off my life expectancy whilst catching up with the blogs I follow? I don't remember Stanley Green and now want to find out more Jane but I'm not sure it's safe to sit here for much longer....
ReplyDeletethat is amazing, i remember this man from when we lived in London! i also passed that field of poppies earlier today. liz x
