Friday Favourites

I certainly seem to have touched a nerve with my Christmas Scrooge post! I thought you might say what an old misery I must be not to mention a tightwad too, but no, I was amazed to see how many of you agreed with me. Thank you all so much for your comments including those new bloggers who visited - it's good to meet new friends.

Having enjoyed
Helsie's Favourite Things Friday post I decided to join in and post some of my favourite things on a Friday - won't promise to keep it up for ever or even to do it every Friday but now and then at least! If you fancy joining in pop over to Mrs Pyjamas here

First up - favourite flower fotos (couldn't resist the alliteration there!) My all time favourite flower is the primrose as seen here....

and a little later comes the apple blossom whose perfume is a favourite.

Today I had a Friday facial - now I was under no illusions that it would leave me looking like the picture (and indeed it didn't!) nor that I would actually leave with velvety smooth, youthfully radiant skin (and I didn't!) but I thought half an hour of pampering for £15 - redeemable against any purchase made - was a good idea especially as as I have had a cold which left me feeling in need of a pick me up. Well it was lovely and I enjoyed it no end.

Speaking of faces - here is favourite face - she has a scratch on her nose but isn't she beautiful and she doesn't have facials either! She was sitting at the table during lunch today and it was fishcakes so that explains her wistful look!
Finally Favourite quotes - thought as it is getting to that time of year I'd share this with you:
TEN COMANDMENTS FOR REDUCING STRESS
1 Thou shalt not be perfect nor even try to be
2 Thou shalt not try to be all things to all people
3 Thou shalt leave undone some things which ought to be done
4 Thou shalt not spread thyself too thin
5 Thou shalt learn to say "No"
6 Thou shalt schedule time for thyself and thy supportive network
7 Thou shalt switch off and do nothing regularly
8 Thou shalt be boring, untidy, inelegant and inattentive at times
9 Thou shalt not ever feel guilty
10 Especially thou shalt not be thine own worst enemy but thy best friend
And Thou shalt not take life too seriously!
If we can all keep these commandments over the next couple of months maybe this year Christmas will be better for everyone?!!!
Have a good weekend

  3. I love the primrose picture too, and the apple blossom. Your facial sounds so relaxing, it's lovely to have a bit of pampering. I like your list - I do actually practise much of it already - maybe I'm rather self indulgent??(Or is that breaking commandment number 9?)
    Have a lovely weekend.

  9. Welcome to the fun! The flowers are lovely (also one of my favorites) and your kitty is just beautiful (yes, I'm a cat person). Got a real kick out of the Ten Commandments for Reducing Stress. Lots of good points there.

  17. Hi Jane,

Thanks for popping over and joining FTF this week. Welcome!

A facial sounds like just what I need at the moment. Your apple blossom photo is gorgeous! Primroses are such cheerful flowers arent they?

I'm taking those commandments on board. I have feeling I'm going to need them over the next couple of weeks. Lots of change at Casa Pyjamas.

Drop by anytime, it was lovely to meet you.

  23. Thank you Jane for your warm and understanding comment at mine yesterday. I agree, the loss never goes away and we have to accept it the best we can ... go with it until it passes. Feeling better with each day, hope you are too.

It's joyful to see your primroses and apple blossom - two of my favourites also and your sweet kittie photo.

  24. Home made xmas again for me this year. I will buy for littlest fairy, but everyone else will get a garland or some such pretty whether they like it or not. I am already half way through, so the pressure is off a bit for now. Love Hector dog to bits, but he is soooo naughty. Your pictures of France are beautiful. Dev x

  27. Hello Jane, just popped across from Alex (Pink Feather Paridise). Primroses are a favourite of mine too, they remind me of the walks I use to go on with my dog when I was younger. The lane behind my parents house was always full of the not so sure now as there is a big housing estate there such a shame.
I've also read your post about Christmas, looks like you stired up a big hornets nest there is not surprising that a lot of people fill the same way I know I do. I have three young children and so want them to know that Christmas is not just all about the presents.
Every year I spend hours shopping for that perfect gift for my husbands family who if I'm honest have more money than I'll ever have but I do it then Christmas day arrives and they look at the gifts like I'm out of my mind, "not sure what I'll do with this" kind of thing I tried the handmade thing a couple of years ago and his Auntie was so rude about the apron I had made "you actually given people handmade gifts, is money really tight" is what she said to me.
Life has really changed for me over the last few months and even more so over the last month from now on I'm going for Simple Abundance and I don't care what anyone thinks.
    Fantastic post loved it.

  30. Another lovely post. That Kitty is soooo adorable. I find I cannot shoo Morty away, so he is rather spoilt, ... and arrogant!
    Love the flowers.

  31. Oh, Jane! I love your ten commandments! While (finally!) reading through them I thought: 'I want to talk about these with this fine lady over tea and cake'. I should work on numbers 7 and 9.
The apple blossom picture is fantastic!
