Balance

Balance : a situation in which different elements are equal or in the correct proportions according to my dictionary.

I know I am not alone in thinking that perhaps the elements in my life just now are not in the correct proportions and that maybe the time spent at the computer is getting out of proportion so I have resolved to blog a little less, to comment a little less and to sit in front of the computer less often in future so as to leave more time for the other elements in my life.

This time of year the garden is calling to me and visitors are arriving on a more regular basis. I also need to find time to be creative in some way - whilst I am busy at my sewing or crafting I am at peace and when I finish whatever it is (IF I finish whatever it is!) I get a feeling of satisfaction which can never be achieved at the computer!

Blogging is great fun and I have made a lot of new friends and acquaintences via this incredible ability to be in touch with new people across the world but it is impossible to follow up all the links and to make friends with all the lovely people out there and one could easily go mad trying! So if you see me about in the blogosphere a little less often it isn't because I don't want to see you and to chat with you but simply becasue I must take time for other things too.

Enjoy your weekend - I'm off to prepare for guests arriving later.

  1. Hi Jane. You are right to confront the issue of balance, I know I spend far too much time on the computer, particularly at night time which then results in sleep deprivation. Now the weather's perking up there are plenty of things that need doing away from the computer so I look forward to hearing what you've been up to when you have the time and the inclination to post.

    Happy gardening. x

By the way, I love the cushions from your last post.

  2. I totally agree "Balance" Like Harmony & Rosie I spend far too much time on the computer! Sometimes I wish my sons were still living at home, I moaned at them for spending too much time on the computer but at least I FOUND something else to do!
Have a great time whatever to do.

  3. Totally agree Jane! And there seem to be plenty feeling the same. It's great in the winter, but with summer days and lighter nights there are so many things to do. (But still, here I am sitting in front of the screen!!)
    Enjoy your visitors!

  7. Too true Jane, a great post I think we can all relate to. Balance is definitely the key to a peaceful, calm mind. The winter has been so long and harsh it's definitely time to be enjoying the garden, getting out and about more, 'making hay while the sun shines'. Now step away from your computers everyone!! x

  9. Hi - I'll miss you popping over to projectforty but understand completely. Have made the decision to leave my day job and will be making all sorts of adjustments and decisions about priorities, what's needed, what I want to do, what I need to do. Will keep following! Enjoy the garden.

  10. Hi Jane....and so say all of us.
I have cut my blog list and only visit long term friends and those blogs I find a connection with.

Enjoy your time doing the things that you want to, rather than the things you feel you should.

  12. Thoroughly enjoyed my garden yesterday and sooooo much to do in it over the next few weeks. You are right to step away if and when you think things are "out of kilter". :O)

  14. Jane,
I hate the phrase but 'we're singing from the same song sheet' here and you've put the case for less time in front of the PC very eloquently. It is about quality over quantity isn't it? Enjoy your quality time with your visitors. You can't beat good friends and good weather for a good life. Lesley x

  15. I so agree... the weather is too beautiful and the nice days to few to spend them all in front of a computer. We shall see you when we see you!
