Brrr!

Here's one for the bloggers down under who are too hot! You did say you wanted to share our cold weather photos Helsie! This is the view from my kitchen window early this morning - as we are on a slope the sun doesn't shine in our garden in winter so it all looks rather dismal as well as cold..
a
This is the rockery alongside our drive - those poor plants all shivering and frosted.

The other side of the drive alongside the wood - poor badgers out there all night eh?!

Brrr!

But in the sheltered part alongside our front door the antirhinums are still in bloom!

And I managed to find a little posy for the guest room - a friend is arriving to stay the night any minute now so must dash!
a
Hope you are all keeping warm today in UK and cool in the Southern Hemisphere!
a
Postscript - In case you think we have a dull day here just to say our bedroom - being higher than the garden - is filled with sunlight just now and the views across town to the hills in the distance is beautiful in the sunshine.!

  3. I love this scene =) It reminds me when I lived in Netherlands some years ago. Hubby and I used to take long walks and feel the cold wind on our faces and, after all, having some hot chocolate ;)

    Have a blessed day,

  4. Pretty frosty photos! No frost today, but we did have one yesterday. Had snow fall here yesterday though and apparently next week it will be heavy and lie! Sort of looking forward to it as I love snow, but I don't want to be forced to take holidays off work for snow days if it gets bad again, like last year! :) x

  5. It is brrr, I can't get warm today. Think it is just looking at the cold that is doing it.

  6. It's sunny here today. Schools are closed because we have another election (teachers I mean) so little one and I went to the nearest time to vote and walked quite a lot in the (cold nontheless) sunshine.
Have a good time with your guest.

  7. Jane,
The Preselis are covered in snow today! One minute we're having a blizzard and the next minute the sun is shining so brightly it's almost blinding. It's definitely an 'all four seasons in one day' day. I hear there's more on the way so get your thermals in readiness for next week! Lesley xx

  9. We've had thick frost which hasn't melted on the shady side of the garden. The birds seem to be desperately feeding and I've had visits from chaffinches and greenfinches today, once so common, but I rarely see them these days, unlike the goldfinches which are always hanging around.

  10. We've had bright sun and no snow so far, though I don't suppose we'll escape. Hoping we don't get snowed in in the next week or so as we have an important hospital visit - after that it can snow and I shan't be too bothered! Birds are eating faster than we can replenish the feeders - practically knocking on the window when we haven't noticed the feeders are empty.

  11. Loving that little posy. Don't think I shall be able to find many more now for quite a few months. I do love frosty mornings though..... as long as they are followed by sunshine!

  12. Oooh that's made me feel cold just looking at the photos. It makes me appreciate my little piece of paradise all the more. So keep up the photos please,as that will stop me whining when I think the weather is horrible here, lol!
It's amazing what sunlight can do to your spirits so glad to hear you do have sunlight coming into your house.
    Love the posy, very pretty.

  13. Ahhhh Jane it looks lovely to me!
Luckily for us Summer is taking its time in arriving here and the mild days and daily showers of rain are most welcome for a change.
Frost is so pretty isn't it? When we have a frost in Winter the sun comes up and burns the frozen plants and everything goes brown and stays that way all winter so not really pretty at all. Does that happen to you? Perhaps your sun is not strong enough to burn like ours is even in Winter.
Tonight's TV news had lots of pictures of snow in the UK so I hope you are tucked up inside with a lovely fire.
    Cheers
    Helen
