Rest in Peace

Woe is me! This is the last photo taken before my camera died! I fear it will not be economically viable to repair and that a new one is called for!! For now my posts will have to be illustrated with archive photos - they may have nothing to do with the text which might be interesting!!
a
As you can see we did have some snow - this was at Montacute yesterday but today it has disappeared from the roads completely - Sod's Law as I stocked up at the shops in readiness for the seige I had been led to believe was nigh!

I have discovered something interesting on Blogger - I am sure you all know this already but it was new to me - there is a tab called Stats and on this you can see how many people have viewed your pages, when and where they are from. I was amazed to know that I have in the past week I have had 7 page views from Georgia, in the past month 16 from India and in the past week 2 in the Phillipines. Not to mention all the European visitors. I don't know whether it isn't a little bit scary to realise that my words are being read in such far flung corners of the globe!!

Enjoy what's left of your weekend and if in the UK keep cosy.

  1. I'll be doing an Advent Calendar on gratitude sorts of with pictures from the archives mostly, so that makes two of us. Hope you can afford a new camera soon.
As for the stats, it's strange; even spooky sometimes.

  2. Hi Jane, time for a new camera.....that should be fun!

I look at my stats each week....I find it really interesting. I rather like the fact that someone I have never met is looking at my images and reading my views. The world is getting smaller!!

  3. It's hard to remember life before the advent of the digital camera isn't it?. I would be lost without mine. Put it on your Christmas list and hope Santa knows you need it for your blog! I didn't know about that stats thing... off to have a look... Lesley xx

  4. It is the time of year, things are designed to pack up so you can put them on your Christmas list - how annoying about your camera. Years ago I lent mine to my Dad to take on holiday. I took out my film and had it developed only to discover the shutter mechanism had broken. He and Mum were touring Scotland and I had no way of contacting him. When he got home he rang to say what wonder shots he had got of leaping salmon and the beautiful scenery - not a happy moment when I had to break the news!

  5. I had the same panic earlier in the year when my beloved camera died. I managed to borrow one for a few weeks until I'd sold enough makes to fund another.

Lets hope Santa brings you a new one - have you been good this year???? ;)

  6. Hi Jane, my camera has also (nearly) died. I can no longer take flash/indoor pics so VERY frustrating. Like you I am using archive pix and the odd scanned item until I can afford to replace it... grrrrr. xx

  7. Oh no that is a disaster Jane! No camera...very frustrating, hope you get a new one soon, but will enjoy your archive photos.

  8. Hope you get a new camera sorted soon. We have NO snow here at all! Rather unfair I feel, although with 2 hour journeys for work on some days next week it's probably for the best!

  10. last year Santa bought me a Canon Power Shot S90.....I love it!!!!
Funny to see that UK has more snow and foul weather than in Ontario.

  11. Poor camera! I'm quite bad, I often use my work camera to take photos when my own one runs out of battery. Would not be happy if it failed on me entirely though!
I love looking at my stats and see what countries people are visiting from! :) x

  12. Hi Jane dear,

I have been meaning to ask if you've read Our Village by Mary Mitford? Written about a century ago and it is a superb view of country life at the time. Very much like Larkrise...

    Sending good wishes,

  13. Hi Jane, I too just discovered 'stats' on my blog dashboard, and agree with you about it being a bit scary! To answer your question about my recipe, yes, I used plain (not self-rising flour). Thanks for stopping by and the recipe is very simple. I have also found that today's digital cameras would cost more to fix than to replace.

  14. Mine died last December, just before Christmas...... so vital to blogging, aren't they? I had forgotten about the stats thingie and went to take a peek....... fascinating, isn't it? :O)

  15. Perhaps a new digital camera might be found under the Christmas tree for you this year Jane. Hint, hint. :)

  16. Never mind, like you said it will keep things interesting, we too have camera issues, and have sent an expensive lens to fixed- will be about 3 weeks- and it was only 1 week old!

  17. How annoying Jane, at least with Christmas just around the corner a new one would make a perfect present. What's even more weird about the Stats is under Traffic Sources, the keywords used to search in google that find your blog. Very strange!!!

  18. So sorry to hear about your camera! Maybe Father Christmas will bring you a new one - and maybe as you're a blogger he'll bring it early, you never know!? The Stats thing is both confusing and wonderful, I think - and it's certainly improving my geography.
Have a good week. Helen x

  21. We haven't had any snow yet despite it being bitterly cold outside. I enjoy looking at the stats from time to time and wonder what on earth people from around the globe make of my blog! Hope you are able to get a nice new shiny camera soon! x

  22. Oh dear, sorry your camera died, but......... Christmas is only just round the corner, and you can put a fabbydabbydozy new camera on your wish list to Father Christmas! How exciting.

  23. Shame about the camera, mince pies and a large glass of sherry for Santa mat do the trick!

  24. Oh I would be lost without my camera, since we came here I have tried to take it everywhere I go. I did laugh at the lady peering at the PC screen with her tippex, I'd love you to email it to me, so I can send it to my freinds Mum, who has just started surfing the net at 80 :D
