Lucky me!

Bloggers are such lovely generous people I find. I don't know what I have done to be so lucky but I have received countless gifts from bloggers in the year or so I have been blogging quite apart from the many giveaways and swaps I have be included in.

This week a beautifully packaged parcel arrived in the post - and when I opened it I found this lovely card...

...and a selection of lovely ribbons. Aren't they beautiful and don't they look lovely presented in a box like this? THANK YOU, THANK YOU Cheryl. I am really touched by your kindness. One of my patchwork cards is on its way to you.
I am now spending some happy moments wondering how best to use these treasures and in the meantime I am enjoying just looking at them and feeling them - yes I know sad aren't I?!!

On Thursday we went to the Scrapstore as my husband wanted a couple more plastic folders like one I had got from there before. He found his folders and I found this lovely fabric. I couldn't resist it and I have 3 peices each of decent size and probably enough to make 3 tote bags. As we paid £1 for the lot I felt I'd got a bargain. Watch this space for the finished articles!!

Thought you might like to see our resident squirrel - or one of them. As well as badgers we have several squirrels who have been keeping us amused with their dashing back and forth as they collect the hazelnuts from the tree at the end of our driveway. I hadn't realised how vocal squirrels can be till this year and this lot do a lot of chattering. One was sitting having a little rest on the fence yesterday when he spotted a ginger cat wandering his way - you should have seen him go and the angry mutterings that emanated from the tree for quite a while left the cat in no doubt that his presence was not welcome.

Here is a photo of one of the badgers taken from my front door - it is not very good as it was too dark for my little point and shoot camera but you can see he's there. They are out there at night now crunching on the fallen nuts which the squirrels have dropped. We don't need a wildlife garden we have one just the other side of our fence where there are acres of woodland!
Have a good weekend.

  1. What a lovely gift to receive - I'd be just looking and touching too.
You certainly have a lot of garden visitors, I don't have badgers but I do have squirrels (and I once had a snake, but that's a whole other story!).

  2. What a beautiful box of ribbons - will you use some to decorate your tote bags?
As for squirrels!! What a lovely bushy tail this chap has got! Mr T (Who is doing well) really dislikes the little fellows - and I must say they are rather annoying when they pick your largest apples and pears, have a nibble and then just leave them on the lawn!

  3. What a lovely gift to receive Jane. I'm interested to see what you make with your fabric! We've had squirrels here for as long as I can remember and they've caused no end of trouble with their ways!

  4. What lovely colours in those ribbons Jane. I don't doubt you will use them creatively and you know how much I love a bargain so that Scrapstore fabric is a great find. Enjoy making the bags and do show us won't you? Our badgers are still in evidence but never seen and as for the squirrels.....let's not go there! Have a great weekend. Lesley x

  5. Lovely ribbon! What are you going to make with it?
We have grey squirrels in our garden too, which annoy me when they are trying to get at the bird food in the squirrel proof feeder, they've even tried chewing at the metal to get in! I also saw one trying to get up to my blueberries! It's a shame as there are red squirrels near by, but not much I can do about it though! :) x

  6. I've just found our local scrapstore - wonderful places aren't they. Super ribbons, what a nice gift. We've at last stopped the squirrels hogging all the bird food and there's plenty on the ground for them to finish up.

  7. What a lovely pressie - lucky you :)

We have squirrels who visit our garden - often the pretend to be birds & hang from the bird feeders! Also see them this time of year burying nuts/acorns for the colder weather. Thanks to them we've got a baby oak tree growing in the garden!

  8. What a lovely gift and no you're not sad for playing with them, I would too!!
Gorgeous material as well and what a bargain!
Lovely to see the badger I would love to see that from my front door. We see so many killed along the roadsides it makes me so sad, they are so beautiful! As for the squirrels they are a noisy lot! I first heard them in our local park, they always sound so cross. :)
    Have a lovely weekend Jane.

  9. Lovely ribbons and I don't think there is anything strange about enjoying the feel of them. That material was a bargain, I wish our council did something like that I'd be there all the time.
    Have a good weekend.

  13. Lucky you seeing the badger. I know they're a complete pain in the garden, but unfortunately I've never seen the one who insists on damaging our lawn (and leaving calling cards, grrrrr). Lovely fabric you found, and yes, what a treat to be sent such a wonderful gift (as I know only too well!!!)

  14. Very pretty ribbons, I am anxious to see your tote bags, the material is very romantic looking. We enjoy our squirrels... Husband keeps them supplied with ear corn continuously. One day a friend stopped by and said, "Your squirrels are FAT"! They become quite tame also, but I'm not going to try to pet them. Yes, they make such a ruckus when the cats appear, that's how we know one is in the yard stalking our birds!!
