She's gone!

Who's gone?  My muse that's who.  I can't think of anything to say lately - can you imagine me not having anything to say?  Well neither can I but it's true!

I think blogging is something you need to do regularly otherwise you lose the inclination.  However all is not lost and in the time I have saved by not being on the computer all the time I have been busy making things.  This little dear is for a friend's little girl for when her new baby brother or sister arrives.  I'm afraid her hairstyle is a bit like mine as the pattern (from an old Woman's Weekly) says "cut strands of yarn and stitch to doll's head" but it doesn't say how!!

The cushion above on the left is one I made earlier and have in my guest room so when a friend admired it I decided to make one for her too - not quite the same but then each piece is unique!

I've made 3 pairs of these in different yarns and given two away and kept this one for myself as I find them so useful and the pair I already had are getting tatty.

A mohair shawl with a corsage.  Using up some yarn given to me by a friend.

And finally my proudest achievement the beginning of a little lap quilt!  Spurred on by the news that my wanderer is to return within weeks instead of months and she will feel the cold after 2 years travelling in Australia.  Made using up fabric I already had - see I CAN do it!!  However now comes the difficult part the wadding, backing and finally the quilting .  I'll let you know how I get on!

Postscript added 16/1/12 - Spent yesterday afternoon quietly cutting up oranges whilst listening to Classic Fm to make marmalade and now have 9 pots of Seville orange marmalade to add to my "makes"!

  11. Well done on making the quilt Jane! It looks like you have used 5" charm squares. For the quilting, maybe you could just do in the ditch. I love the hand warmers,,, are they easy?

  15. Lovely gift you've made for the litle girl. Did you crochet the carry-cot from a pattern or DIY? It fits the 'baby' so well.
I'm pleased to see other people have trouble blogging from time to time - I thought it was only me!
Are the fingerless mitts a Bought pattern or from the net, somewhere. I'd love to make some for when I'm out in the garden (not at the moment, though.) Didn't know you crocheted as well as all the other crafts you're interested in.

  18. Jane, you were curious about the lace motif on my blog photo. It's probably cut from exactly the same piece of material as yours because it came from the lovely package of odds and ends that we swapped awhile ago. I just love it!

  20. You've certainly been very productive while you were not blogging...and what beautiful projects you have created. I love those cushions especially, and the mittens too. I admire people who have the patience and talent for quilting...because I adore quilts, but you won't find me attempting to create one, sadly.

  21. Love your cushions! I used to love marmalade, but I never eat bread now, so dont use it any more. Good luck with your quilt, it looks very nice. Love the little dolly- I used to love those English Womens Weekly mags- my mother used to buy them in NZ!

  23. It's a constant dilemma isn't it ... time spent blogging is time not spent making, and time spent making is time away from blogging and the fickle blogging muse. But hey, she's not so far away that muse of yours, this post is full of inspiration, and that quilt is lovely :D

  24. Crikey Jane, if you did all that without. 'a muse' what on earth would you have produced if she'd been present? It's all lovely, the gloves and shawl are especially so. How lovely that your daughter will soon be home from her travels. I bet you're excited. Hope you all have a lovely homecoming party!!

  25. You have been busy creating. I like the doll in the crib. I used to make lots of knitted toys once.

  26. I know exactly what you mean Jane, I've been feeling the same myself. I intend to spend less time at the computer this year and in doing so regain some precious time. Having said that, it's still lovely to be back!

Good to hear that your wanderer will soon return - you must miss her so.
