It's such a great day....

..... I cannot, must not, spend time indoors at the computer so just a very quick post today!

Here is yesterday's patchwork effort - it certainly isn't perfect but I am quite pleased with it although that was 4 hours' work in there so anything larger would take forever!

Now all I have to do is to actually make it up into something! I now have 3 blocks waiting to be turned into cushion covers ... oh well we will surely have some wet afternoons sometime that I can ear-mark for such projects can't I?!

We walked into town today and as it was such a fabulous day we even walked back too. I don't know the distance but it takes about half an hour each way so am feeling quite virtuous. Do you think I could have something naughty with my afternoon cuppa now? This is our route along the old railway line - it's lovely isn't it?

Just look at the colour of that sky! The tree is a lovely silvery leafed one - not sure what it's called - and looked so beautiful against the blue - reminded me of a summer holiday in Turkey some years ago when I lay by the pool gazing at the silvery grey of the olive trees surrounding me against the bright blue sky, warm in the sunshine and experiencing one of those moments that occasionally happen along when everything is exactly as it should be - now safely saved away in my mental photo albumn

Whilst in town I called into the library and picked up this little book of knitted angels. Isn't it cute? Thought I might knit one or two of them but on second thoughts maybe I should finsih off some of the UFOs (unfinished objects) I already have lying about before starting on anything else. You can see why I never actually make anything can't you?! Still it's fun trying new things out isn't it?

See there's even one doing a piece of patchwork - now that's a piece of patchwork I just might be able to achieve but not sure about the angel so maybe I'll just enjoy looking at the pictures and take it back next time I go to the library!
I'll try to post another French Idyll chapter over the weekend for those of you who are enjoying those but just now we are off to the little local nursery to see if we can get something to replace the pots and baskets which are now well past their best (like me!)

Have a good weekend everyone.

PS Does anyone know why I can never seem to get the spacing right between my pics and the text? Is there some knack I haven't grasped?

  1. Aren't those just the cutest little squares. Love the raspberrie color. Pure charm. Glad to see you got out for a walk like I did.

I totaly agree with this picture spacing issue with blogger uploader. Mine are taking for ever and I can't seem to get this right either. I tried working in the HTML part after wording the pics.. It seemed to work a little better. I'm more about the pics than the words. SO THIS FRUSTRATES me as well.

Keep me posted if you figure anything out.

  2. Your patchwork is very beautiful. I'd like to learn but that's not possible at the moment, 24 hours a day is not enough.

The spacing issue can be resolved at the HTML tab, if you know how does the code work. It could be a break space (br) instead of a paragraph (p), or different font sizes...

Good weekend to you too, Jane!

  4. I can't believe how quickly you did that patchwork! Maybe you could join them together - at that rate you would have quilt in no time!

  5. Your patchwork is really lovely! Nice and neat and tidy and will make a beautiful pillow. I love it when the sky is so blue it's hard to believe.
Sorry I don't have any advice on photo spacing in blogger - with me it's all about luck :-)
Hope you have a lovely weekend.

  6. Such a lovely patchwork cushion and once you get the hang of it, it will become a lot faster.

    Have a lovely weekend,

ps. could the tree be a Birch of some kind?? The leaves look similar.

  7. Those angels are fabulous! I dont think I could have left that book in the library either..... When I have problems with linespacing and photos I try HTML...... (not that I know what I am doing, its just sheer bloody "dog at a bone" technique!). x
